Cortland County Microenterprise Assistance Program (MAP) Funds Available

Cortland County currently has Microenterprise Assistance Program (MAP) funding available.  The funding was awarded by New York State Homes and Community Renewal under the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program. The funding will be used to assist microenterprise businesses located within Cortland County.  A microenterprise is a business that employs or will employ five or fewer persons, including the business owner(s).  The "five or fewer test" is based on total headcount regardless of the number of hours worked by each employee.  

Assistance will be awarded to eligible businesses on a competitive basis.  The County can provide between $5,000 and $35,000 per business for equipment, inventory, working capital, and other uses.  Owners must provide a cash equity contribution of at least 10% of the project total. Either the owner(s), or new hire(s) must have low-to-moderate incomes.
