Village of Whitney Point
The Village of Whitney Point is situated in northern Broome County at the confluence of the Tioughnioga and Otselic Rivers, in the Town of Triangle. Native Americans of the Iroquois Confederacy once used these rivers as highways through the region. The Village is intersected by many highways, including Interstate Route 81, and Routes 11, 79, 26, and 206, and serves as the “gateway” to the Finger Lakes region for northbound travelers, and to the Greater Binghamton area for southbound travelers. Whitney Point is also home of the Broome County Fair, which has been held there since 1874. |
