Town of Sterling
The Town of Sterling is a small rural Township located in northern Cayuga County on the banks of Lake Ontario. The Town’s 2000 Census population is 3,432 residents. The population has increased by more than 4% since 1990. As the 20th century progressed, and there was less of a reliance on farms as an economic base, more residents sought employment opportunities in the industrialized area of Auburn and in the City of Syracuse. The presence of Lake Ontario has also spawned a small seasonal tourism economy. The Town of Sterling is home to the Fair Haven State Park, the Sterling Renaissance Festival, and the Sterling Nature Center. |
